![]() ![]() Getting to play at the state tournament was a dream come true for Owens, who remembers watching the tournament from the stands as a young hockey player growing up. Cretin-Derham Hall unfortunately lost its quarterfinal game at the Class AA state tournament to Prior LakeĪnd went on to lose a close 4-3 consolation semifinal game to Edina. Owens posted a goal and six assists through the 17 games he played on varsity that year as a sophomore. The Raiders made it to the state tournament that season and had a 24-5 overall record. He started off that season on junior varsity and eventually got bumped up to the main varsity squad a few weeks later. Right before varsity tryouts his sophomore season, Owens broke a toe by taking a slap shot to the foot one day, so that set him back a little bit early on in 2021-22. The left-shot forward didn't have the easiest start to his high school career at Cretin-Derham Hall though. Which is a nonprofit committed to "honoring the service of our nation's heroes," so Chuck's commitment to Air Force means a lot more than just an opportunity to play Division I hockey. Chuck also has extended family members on both sides that served in other branches of the military. His father, Joel, served in the Air Force during Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
